Comprehensive and well-structured

I decided to get the Syntorial software to improve my understanding of synthesis, and I'm really glad I did. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. I received the download link and license key within a few hours, which was perfectly fine. Installation was easy on my PC. I particularly liked the structure of the lessons, which combine video demonstrations with hands-on challenges. It makes learning very engaging and much more effective than just watching YouTube tutorials. They cover a good range of synthesis topics, and it's clear they put a lot of thought into how people learn. I've been using it with my MIDI keyboard, and everything integrates smoothly. It's an excellent resource for anyone serious about music production training and learning sound design.

Effective synth lessons

I bought the Syntorial software for ear training. The lessons were clear and very helpful. Got my license quickly after purchase. It definitely improved my sound design skills. Good product.

Good training, delivery was slow

I purchased the Syntorial training software a few weeks ago after seeing some positive reviews. The content itself is very thorough for learning sound design, and the interactive challenges really help solidify the concepts. I felt the price was fair for what's offered. My main gripe was the delivery of the software key; it took almost 48 hours to receive the email, which felt a bit long for a digital product. I reached out to customer service, and they were polite but couldn't really speed things up. Once I got it installed, though, it's been great for learning how to use my VST synthesizer plugin. It works well on my Mac.

Learned a lot from this

Grabbed the Syntorial software last month. It's been pretty good for figuring out how to make sounds. I was a total beginner with synths, but it walks you through everything. The interactive bits really help it stick. Got it installed on my computer without any trouble. It's a solid way to learn without getting bored. Totally worth it if you want to understand synthesis better.

What kind of synthesizers does Syntorial actually teach? Is it specific to certain VSTs or more general?

A Amber 2 months ago
It focuses on foundational synthesis concepts that apply to pretty much any subtractive synth. But they also have specific lesson packs for popular VSTs like Serum and Massive if you want to dive deep into those.

The core program teaches universal synth principles. Then yeah, they have expansion packs for things like Serum, Sylenth1, Massive, etc. so you can apply what you learn directly to those.

Hey, does Syntorial ever go on sale? Trying to snag a deal if possible.

J Julia 3 months ago
Definitely! They usually have big sales around Black Friday/Cyber Monday and sometimes for holidays like Christmas. I got mine for 40% off during a summer sale last year.

Yeah, keep an eye out during those big shopping holidays. They do pretty good discounts then. Also, if you're a student or teacher, you can get a permanent 40% off.

So, is the iPad version included if I buy the main Syntorial software, or is that a separate purchase?

R Renee 3 months ago
It's a separate purchase, unfortunately. I bought the desktop version and then had to get the iPad app separately if I wanted it there too.

T Troy 3 months ago
Nope, the iPad version is a standalone app you buy from the App Store. Doesn't come with the desktop license.

Thinking of getting Syntorial but wanna know if it's gonna work on my old Mac. Like, what are the system requirements for Mac users?

B Beth Kim 2 months ago
Yeah, it works on both Mac and PC. I'm on a 2017 MacBook Air and it runs fine for me.

It's cross-platform for sure. No worries there.

Is Syntorial really worth the price compared to just watching a bunch of YouTube videos for free?

D Dan 3 months ago
Honestly, yes. YouTube is great for specific tips but Syntorial structures everything and makes you DO the exercises. It's super interactive, not just passive watching. Totally different learning experience.

For sure, it's way more hands-on than just watching videos. You actually build the sounds and train your ear, which is what YouTube often lacks. I'd say it's worth it if you're serious about learning sound design.
